Harvey J. Shoemaker March 3, 1925 - May 6, 2008 Harvey J. Shoemaker, 83, a resident of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the Golden Living Center Brandywine of Greenfield. He was born March 3, 1925 in Marion, Indiana to the late Harvey J. and Daisy (Howe) Shoemaker. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Navy Seal. He retired in 1991 as a model engineer from Thompson Consumer Electronics, was a member of Park Chapel Christian Church, and loved to play the harp and the guitar. He was an avid Colts fan, enjoyed woodworking and playing on the computer. He loved reading and researching the Bible and Judaism. He also loved spending time with his dogs. He is survived by his wife, Joan (Merrill) Shoemaker of Greenfield, whom he married January 1, 1965; half-brother, Ralph Youngs of Marion, IN; nieces and nephews, Tammy Ridder, Pamela Barefoot, Bruce and Jeff Perry. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Harvey J. Shoemaker III. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2008 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield with Pastor David Woods officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery, Wilkinson with military graveside rites provided by the Greenfield Veteran Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday, May 11, 2008 from 2- 6 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday.
