Helen Catherine Steffen

Helen Catherine (Leyrer) Steffen, age 92 of Greenfield, IN passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Crestwood Village Assisted Living in Indianapolis where she was a resident since February of 2015. She was born on January 19, 1924 in Hamilton, OH to the late William G. & Marguerite (Engle) Leyrer. Helen attended Lutheran grade school in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1942. She was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Greenfield. Surviving Helen is her son, Thomas W. (Alice) Steffen of Indianapolis; daughters, Donna R. (Kurt) Schlicht of Indianapolis; Linda E. (Fred) Parish of New Palestine; Sandra S. Alexander of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Nicholas; Daniel; and Bryan Alexander; Robert Parish; April Weatherford; Jamie Fields; Amy Sturges; Kimberly Self-McArthur; Michelle Self-Ballard; Ryan & Andrew Steffen; and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents listed above; and husband of 67 years; Donald Henry Steffen. Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm following the visitation with Pastor Larry Gember from St. James Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
