Hester L. Shelby, age 77, longtime resident of Greenfield and Indianapolis, passed away July 13, 2018. She was born Hester Louise Creswell on July 30, 1940, in Finch, Kentucky.
As a child, she moved with her family to Carthage, Indiana, and graduated from Carthage High School in 1958. As a young woman, Hester was a single mother who often worked multiple jobs to provide for her three boys. She worked for many years at the Jenn-Air plant in Indianapolis and continued to be active with company reunions. She found her beloved husband, the late Norman D. Shelby of Greenfield, later in life, and they were happily married more than twenty-five years.
Hester had many friends, all of whom knew her to be loving, kind, and always giving. A lifelong Christian with a servants heart, she was a competitive clog dancer and a member of the Red Hat Society, Hoosier Mets Car Club, and the Petticoat Square Dance Club. She also volunteered with AMVETS, gladly serving the veterans of our armed services. In later years she was an active resident at the Fun-N-Sun RV Resort in San Benito, TX, and most recently lived in Ellenton, FL.
Hester is survived by son J. David Webb of Nashville, TN; son Timothy H. Webb of Johns Creek, GA; son Kevin L.
