Irene H. (Hendrix) Basey May 6, 1924 - July 3, 2012
Irene H. (Hendrix) Basey age 88 years, a resident of Greenfield passed away Tuesday morning July 3, 2012 at Hancock Regional Hospital Hospice, Greenfield. She was born May 6, 1924 in Clay County, North Carolina to the late John Philo and Carrie Lee (Carter) Hendrix. She was a 1942 graduate of Fortville High School, a secretary and teachers aide for the Eden Elementary for 13 years. She was a member of the Eden United Methodist Church, Eden Order of the Eastern Star #101, United Methodist Women and the School Secretary Association of Indiana. Irene was an exceptional seamstress who made quilts and was widely recognized for her knitting projects. She also painted and engaged in many other crafts. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Wayne) Allford of Greenfield, Joanna (Kerry) Kellermeyer of Florida, Linda (Greg) Dunn of Greenfield, grandchildren, Rick (Becky) Allford, Cheryl (Tim) Overman, Beth (Rob) Daffron, Wendy (Eddie) Jordan, Cindy ( Jamie) Miller, Mindy Kellermeyer, David (Stephanie) Dunn, Toni (Dan) Carr, 17 great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild, brother, George Hendrix of Fortville and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Carl W. Basey in 2001, her parents and step-father, Leroy Bowers, her brother, Jarvis Raye Hendrix, sister, Inez Washburn, grandson, Kevin Alan Kellermeyer, and great-grandson, Jordan Allford. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Eden United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will follow in Eden Cemetery.
