James Earl Hylton, age 71 of Greenfield passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Spring Hurst Health Campus. He was born July 24, 1948 in Indianapolis to the late Marion and Alice (Suhre) Hylton.
After graduating from Arsenal Tech High School, he served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. Jim also attended Tennessee Temple University. Prior to his retirement Jim was a Railroad Scale Inspector for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 41 years. Jim was dedicated to the church, serving his Lord by being involved in ministering in many different areas. Jim enjoyed trains, was an avid cross stitcher enjoyed old war movies and playing games. He loved to make people laugh, and put a smile on the face of everyone he met. He knew no stranger.
Jim is survived by his wife Karen (Hof) Hylton; children, Charles (Shannon) Herzog, Heidi (David) Halicki, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Jim is preceded in death by his parents; brother David Hylton and sister Lois Perkins.
Immediate services will be private, but a Celebration of Life Service will be planned at a later date.
