James Robert Johnson

James Robert Johnson, 78 years, a resident of Wichita, Kansas and former residence of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at his residence. He was born September 23, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Charles H. and Eleanor L. (Reasnor) Johnson.

James graduated from Warren Central High School in1964, received his bachelor's degree from Purdue University, was in corporate sales with Western Electric and served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Boys Scouts, American Legion and Moose Lodge both of Ft. Meyers, Florida. He will be remembered as a family-oriented man that enjoyed dogs, snowmobiling, watching the Wheel of Fortune and coaching youth sports.

He is survived by his wife, Sondra Kay (Herndon) Johnson, son, Robert J Johnson, daughter Amy New, grandchildren, Erik Johnson, Samantha (Chad) Wright, Shelby New and a bonus great grandson, Asher Wright.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, daughter, Carrie Dellinger and sister, Jacqueline Johnson.

Visitation will be 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Hendryx Cumberland Chapel, 11636 E. Washington Street, Cumberland, IN 46229. Funeral service will be 10:00 am Friday January 31, 2025, at the funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery, Cumberland, Indiana.
