James Edward Lindsey

November 22, 1962 — October 9, 2021

James Edward Lindsey, 58, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 9, 2021, while attending a hobby show he dearly treasured. James was born on November 22, 1962, in Cincinnati, OH, to Arthur and Allie (Myrtle-Baker) Lindsey. He entered the U.S. Army in 1981 as an ultimatum for getting into a bit of trouble as a young man, protecting his sister. After serving for a few months, he met and fell in love with a young lady whom he would marry shortly thereafter, Miyong Sung. They wed on October 8, 1982. As the U.S. Army structured James with daily discipline, respect, communication, and authority, he decided to make a career out of serving his country. While serving a total of 21 years, James was housed not only in the U.S., but Italy, South Korea, and Germany. He served in combat zones such as Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Mogadishu Somalia, and Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. He graduated from the following schools: Army Sniper, Airborne, Army Sapper, and Combat Engineer. He received Accommodations as the Bronze Star with V-Device and the Meritorious Service Medal. After retirement in September 2001, his highest rank was Master Sergeant. James considered his enlistment and career in the Army as humble and simple, always paying more respect to those who perished. He never bragged about his duties nor positions, but simply acknowledged his participation. TAPS was always sentimental to him. While in the U.S. Army, James took advantage of furthering his education by receiving his associates degree from the University of Maryland as well as his bachelor of science degree from the same University. Away from his military career, James was family-oriented, generous, loving, caring, funny, down to Earth, yet stubborn. He wished success upon everyone he encountered. He was loyal to all his friends. He loved watching war-time movies, reading books, collecting and watching Godzilla, listening to 80s hair band's music, attending gun shows, and restoring classic cars as well as classic guns. He was a member of the Greenfield American Legion. His big heart, joking persona, and educational demeanor will forever be missed. James also worked as a buyer and logistics specialist with Kroger's for 20 years in their bakery department. James just celebrated his 39th anniversary with the love of his life, Miyong Lindsey. She survives, as does their son, James Steven Lindsey and his wife Cynthia Lippitz; 2 cats: Tom-Tom and Marie; and 4 siblings: Arthur Lindsey, Kathy (John) Taylor, Johnny (Ronna) Lindsey, and Angela (Tony) Rose. James was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kelly Hobbs.
