James R. Lowder September 29, 1934 - December 9, 2010 James R. Lowder, 76, of Greenfield passed away Thursday, December 9, 2010 at his home. He was born September 29, 1934 in Hancock County to the late Robert and Garnet J. (Leary) Lowder. James graduated from Mt. Comfort High School in 1952 and attended Indiana Central College, where he played football and baseball. He worked 30 years for the Railroad and served as both union representative and state legislative representative for the Railroad. James was a life member of the NRA, the North American Hunting Club and the National Trappers Association; he was a member of the VFW, a Mason and enjoyed farming, hunting and trapping. He is survived by his wife, Katherine (Lichte) Lowder; sons, Greg (Jane) Lowder, Keith Lowder, Mike Lowder, Matt (Misty) Lowder; daughters, Connie (Barry) Hickman, Roberta Thompson; brother, Phil (Anne) Lowder; sister, Rhea (George) Combs; cousins, Doyne (Loueen) Lowder and Susie (Wayne) Melton; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 nieces and 2 nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2010 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield with Rev. Don Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Arnett Lowder Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. with Masonic services at 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hancock Regional Hospital Hospice, 1560B North State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.
