James G. Pardew, Sr. June 18, 1941 - March 6, 2010
James G. Pardew, Sr. age 68 years, a resident of Greenfield passed away Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the VA Medical Center in Marion, Indiana.
He was born June 18, 1941 in Paterson, New Jersey and is the son of the late Alvan J. Pardew and Dorothea (Fielding) Wiener.
He graduated from high school in Dade County, Fl in 1959, earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Miami, Florida in 1964 and upon graduation worked for Westinghouse in Muncie, IN.
He was commissioned in the USAF in Sept. of 1965, served as Vehicle Management Officer during his tenure and served at a support base in Thailand during the Viet Nam War for a year. He later received the Bronze star medal for meritorious service in Southeast Asia, National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
Following five years of active duty, he served in the Air Force Reserves until 1982 having achieved the rank of Major. He later worked in Civil Service as Assistant Chief, Quality Assurance Division, Defense Logistics Agency, DCASMA Detroit, Michigan.
He was a member of Indianapolis First Church of the Nazarene and loved to bowl and play table games. Although he battled mental illness for thirty-eight years, he was active in supporting his church, his family, witnessing for our Lord and Savior, and was well known as a man of prayer.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Eveline (Huddleston) Pardew of Greenfield whom he married on February 7, 1965; son, James G. (Donna) Pardew, Jr. of Indianapolis; daughter, Beth (Paul) Clark of Greenfield, four grandchildren, Devin Pardew, Joanna Pardew, Danielle Clark, Stephanie Clark; sister, Yvonne Pardew of NC; five nephews and
three nieces.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield with Rev. Joseph Huddleston officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
