James R. "J.R." Johnson, age 81 of Greenfield passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on June 26, 1934 in Burnside, Kentucky to the late Orville and Eva (Marcum) Johnson. J.R. married the love of his life Betty L. (McCaslin) Johnson on August 5, 1954. He spent his life working as an OTR Truck Driver. He also owned and operated Johnson Motor Lines until his retirement in 2008. J.R. loved all kinds of trucks and tending to his rose garden. J.R. was known to many as a family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving J.R. is his wife, Betty Johnson of Greenfield; son, James R. Johnson II (Fred Pope) of Greenfield; daughters, Tina (Joseph) Evans of Mt. Summit, IN; Joni (Tim) Rockey of Greenfield; Jamie (Tim) Sweet of New Castle; brothers, Glen Johnson of Indianapolis; Creston (Charlotte) Johnson of New Castle and Douglas Johnson of Toledo, Ohio; sister, Glenna Young of Kentucky; grandchildren, Jason Adcock, Jeremy Adcock, Chris Johnson, Chuck Meadows, Nick Sweet, Stephanie Jones, Michael Ball, Melia Sweet, and 20 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his parents listed above, 5 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. A graveside service will be held immediately following the visitation at Park Cemetery in Greenfield, 621 S State St, Greenfield, IN 46140.
