James F. Rowell, age 86 a longtime resident of Greenfield passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 in Henderson, Kentucky. He was born January 27, 1932 in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late George and Ethel (Fiscus) Rowell. After graduation from Jackson Central High School James entered active duty with the U.S. Navy on March 26, 1951 and served on the USS Cassin Young.
He attended Bible College and pastored nine and a half years at First Assembly of God Church in Greenfield and a short time in Porter, IN. James was a licensed funeral director and worked for Pasco Memorial Mortuary and Conkle Funeral Home. After Retirement he worked for Marsh Supermarket, Greenfield as the produce clerk.
He is survived by his wife of 3 years Waunita (Nita) Jones of Robards, KY, daughter; Renee Malone of Westville, IN, grandchildren; James (Amber Evans) Malone of Westville, Nathan (Teresa McWhirter) Malone of Portage, IN, Rebecca (Jason) Samuels of Michigan City and 4 great grandchildren (Colin and Annabelle McWhirter, Ada Jane and Myra Lynn Malone all of Portage, IN and several nieces and nephews.
James is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Dolores Rowell on October 6, 2013, a stillborn daughter in 1953, an infant son on May 28, 1958, siblings Lester, Alfred, George Rowell, Wilma Streter, an infant grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140 with burial immediately following at Park Cemetery, Greenfield. Friends may call 3-7 pm, Friday, October 12th at the funeral home.
