James Samuels October 11, 2011 James B. Samuels, 95, a resident of Greenfield passed away Tuesday October 11, 2011 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born October 29, 1915 in Greenfield, Indiana to the late Martin F. and Gertrude (Gambrel) Samuels James was a manager at the Kroger of Knightstown and retired in 1971 from Adams Road Machinery (Westinghouse Air Brake) as a material control handler for 30 years. He was an active lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a teacher of adult Sunday school, deacon, and elder, a 60 year member of the Hancock Lodge 101 F&AM, Greenfield. He was a former explorer scout leader and active in photography. He is survived by son, Phillip (Carol) Samuels of Greenfield; sister, Verla Davis of Greenfield; grandsons, Douglas Samuels of Grabill, Indiana, Dr. Brian (Anna) Samuels of Indianapolis; two step-grandsons, David W. (Rebecca) Young II of Seattle, Washington, Joseph K. Young of Chicago, Illinois; and two great grandchildren, Raegan and T.J. Samuels. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Wauneta M. Samuels. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield with Pastor John Paulson officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday October 14, 2011 at the funeral home.
