James E Wheeler

James Edwin Wheeler, age 95, of Greenfield, passed away on October 22, 2019 at Hancock Regional Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 19, 1924, in Indianapolis, In, to the late Charles V. Wheeler & Pearl (Pauley) Wheeler. James served in the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class until discharge in 1946. He married the love of his life, Shirley Wheeler, on June 5, 1948. James was a devoted member of Trinity Park United Methodist Church. He spent his career with Delco Remy until his retirement in 1979. James was raised by his grandparents Nathan & Ora Wheeler due to a traffic accident that took the lives of his parents. James was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed playing pool, golf and watching sports, especially IU and the Pacers. He really enjoyed activities at the Hancock County Senior Citizens Center, but most of all spending time with his precious family who he loved dearly. Left to cherish James's memory are his wife; Shirley Wheeler, sons; Gregory & Mark Wheeler, 2 Grandchildren & 3 Great-Grandchildren. James is proceeded in death by his parents and grandparents listed above and a sister Marjorie Wheeler. Visitation for James will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday October 24, 2019 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 W. Main St, Greenfield, IN 46140. A Funeral Service will be at the funeral home on Friday October 25, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow the Funeral Service at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
