Janet Dobbins

Janet Dobbins, 94, passed away peacefully, November 2, 2019 at her home. Prior to her death, she was visited by many friends and family that shared her impact on their lives. She was a lifelong resident of Hancock County and born July 6, 1925 near Westland, Indiana. She was one of eight children and was the daughter of Charles H. and Katie Jones Matlock. She graduated from Westland high school in 1943 and was valedictorian of her HS Class. She always said she wasn't that smart, just studied a lot. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Barbara Dobbins of Loveland, Colorado; her son and daughter-in-law Quinton and Ponda Dobbins of Miami Florida and Perrysville, Indiana; and her daughter and son-in-law Christine and Michael Guill of Fortville, Indiana. Her Grandchildren, Heather Dobbins Guntrum of Carmel, IN; Jason Dobbins of Colorado; and Quinn Dobbins of Rising Sun, Maryland. She had 5 great-grandchildren Ethan and Eva Guntrum, Matt Lowder, Jenna Dobbins and Lilly Dobbins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Caryl Dobbins; brothers Nile, Loren, George and Charles Matlock; and sisters Helen Lucas, Adonis Smith and Ina Francis Wallace. She also lost many other close Florida/Indiana friends and relatives. Janet loved her faith, family and farming. She was a lifetime and active member of Shiloh Christian Church. She farmed along her husband's side for 65 years and loved country life. She also enjoyed retreating to their sunny, winter home in Homestead, Florida for 37 years. She loved serving others, especially feeding them with her country cooking and award winning pies. Celebration of Janet's life is Friday, November 8, 2019 at 11 A.M.
