Janice (Stephens) Blackford

Janice Blackford, 75, of Greenfield, passed away at Compassus Hospice Care on May 22, 2023. She was born in Jamestown, KY, on April 16, 1948, to the late Joseph and Lois (Gossage) Stephens. She married Robert Blackford on June 16, 1965, and enjoyed 58 very happy years loving him.

Janice loved to cook, talk with everyone she met and take care of kids, not only her own, but her nieces, nephews, grandkids, great-grandson, kids around the neighborhood and all of her kids and grandkids friends. She was known to so many as Nanny and Gabby. As much love as she received, she gave even more.

Sadly, for all who loved them, her chili and pizza recipes are lost forever. She would never give her secrets away, even to her kids.

Janice is survived by her loving husband, Robert; children, Tammy Blackford-Hall, Todd (Melissa) Blackford and Tonya Blackford (Jon McMillan); grandchildren, Quentin and Cora Blackford, Jynesha Coleman-Blackford, Seth and Brooklyn Blackford; great-grandson, Graedyn Blackford; sister, Judy; brothers, Larry, Jerry and Darrell; as well as many, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jimmy Stephens.

Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Greenfield, is of assistance to the Blackford family during their time of loss. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at Park Cemetery, 621 South State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.
