Jeanne Elizabeth Meddock

Jeanne Havens Tracy Meddock, 95, of Greenfield died peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2019. Jeanne was born to Hilda and Fred Havens on May 16, 1924. Jeanne graduated from Greenfield High School, Butler University, and was a scholarship student at the Arthur Jordan Conservatory of Music (Bachelor of Music). She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Social Sorority, and a member of Sigma Alpha Iota Honorary Music Sorority. From 1945 to 1948 she taught at Jordan Conservatory's Preparatory Department on the Piano Faculty from her senior year. In 1968 Jeanne earned a master's degree in Music from Butler's Jordan College of music and taught piano lessons at home and at St. Michael's School in Greenfield. She married Ernest A. Tracy in 1948 and they settled in Greenfield. Ernest died in 1974. Jeanne married Reverend William Meddock in 1986. Jeanne was from a strong Methodist heritage. Her grandfather, John Marshall Havens, was a Circuit Rider for the Methodist Church. Jeanne was the organist for Bradley United Methodist Church for several years. She loved to play golf and was a member of Greenfield Country Club, the American Pianists Association (Indianapolis), and Tri Kappa (Greenfield). She also loved to play bridge. Jeanne's son, Robert Ernest Tracy, died suddenly in 2000, and the Bob Tracy Business Scholarship was established at Hancock County Foundation. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Ray Rice) Tracy and her beloved granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Rice. Jeanne will be forever loved and missed by those who knew her. Friends may call on Wednesday October 2, 2019 from 11:00 to 12:00 PM at Trinity Park United Methodist Church, 207 W Park Ave, Greenfield, IN 46140 and a funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM with Pastor Larry VanCamp officiating.
