Jeannette J. Hartzog, 89 of Pendleton passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Golden Living Center, Greenfield. She was born December 29, 1925 in Springfield, Missouri to the late Fred and Virginia (Robinson) ONeal.
She was a graduate of Springfield High School and a member of the First Baptist Church, Springfield. Jeannette met and married her husband Charles H. Hartzog while he was stationed in Springfield on January 29, 1944. The Army transferred them to Denver, Colorado to make their home. In 1946 they were transferred to St. Louis, Missouri where they lived until 1953. They were transferred to Indianapolis and made their home in Greenfield. In 1957 Jeannette went to work for the Civil Service Department at Fort Benjamin Harrison.
Charles passed away in 1974 and Jeannette remained in Greenfield until her retirement in December 1978. She spent the next 25 years in Pinellas Park, Florida prior to returning to be with her family in Pendleton.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlcie Jennifer (Alan) Holden of Pendleton, grandchildren, Adam Holden (Michele Holden), April (Troy) King, Aaron (Maria) Holden, Bryan (Angie) Shell, great grandchildren, Tanner King, Tatum King, Charlcie Holden, Brooke Holden, Brynlie Holden, Trevor Humphreys, her sisters son, Thomas (Stephanie) ONeal, their children Lauren ONeal , Hunter ONeal, several sisters in law, brothers in law and nieces and nephews in Mississippi.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Hartzog and sister Joan Varland.
Friends may call 12:30-1:30, Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140 with funeral services following at 1:30 pm. Burial at Park Cemetery, Greenfield immediately following the service.
