Jeffrey Alan Sauer

Jeffrey Alan Sauer, 75, Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, with family by his side. Jeff was born on August 4, 1950, in Indianapolis, IN, to parents Eugene A. and Elizabeth R. (Jones) Sauer. Jeff is a 1968 graduate of Bishop Chatard High School and a 1972 graduate of Indiana University, majoring in geography. Jeff married Lisa A. Jessup on May 1, 1993.

Jeff loved the outdoors and could be found fishing, taking walks, tackling yardwork, and walking his beloved golden retriever. He loved to travel, especially to see a daughter who lives across the country. He enjoyed sci-fi, loved all animals, and reigned king when it came to napping. But more importantly, Jeff was all about his grandchildren. They were the apples of his eyes. Jeff worked for the State of Indiana as a special tax auditor for many years and also tinkered as a handyman.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa of 32 years; their children: Elizabeth Sauer, Amanda Jackson (Tom Rosser), Andrea (Derrick) Murphy, Alex Jackson, Lily Tucker, and Kaitlyn Sauer; 6 grandchildren; sister, Diane Brow; brother, Larry (Alice) Sauer; beloved dog, Nala; and several nieces and nephews.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Paula Bates; and father-in-law, Larry Jessup.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, with the service immediately following at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and/or tree saplings may be purchased from the funeral home’s website, as Jeff loved the outdoors.
