Jeffrey Lynn Shirley

Jeffrey Lynn Shirley, 68, currently living in Lebanon, but formerly of the Greenfield area, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025, after a 3-week bout of illness. Jeff was born on October 19, 1956, in Greenfield, to Edward Lee and Juanita June (Ryckman) Shirley. Jeff is a 1975 graduate of Greenfield Central High School.

Jeff was a simple man. He made no fuss and did not appreciate frill. He loved working on cars, watching and attending a few NASCAR races, rooting on the Colts, camping, and playing solitaire on the computer and euchre. He was thoughtful and genuine and would do anything for anyone. He loved his family and friends to the fullest. He married Kimberly Watson on January 10, 2024. He quickly became best friends with her father. Maybe that was an additional reason as to why she married Jeff. Jeff attended Anderson Technical School to study car performance for two years. He worked as a correctional officer at Pendleton Correctional Facility for many years before retiring. After retirement, Jeff also worked part time with an auto auction site before illnesses sidelined him.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Kim; daughter, Lynn Shirley; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Cindi Shirley; 4 stepchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; and many friends.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kevin Shirley and Phillip Shirley; former wife, Alice Jean (White) Shirley; and niece, Stephanie Shirley.

The family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at not only Witham Health Services, but IU Methodist Hospital for the care, compassion, and love they showed to not only Jeff, but his entire family. Although in ICU for those 3 weeks, they all complimented that Jeff was strong and never complained.
