Jimmy LaDon Canter

Jimmy LaDon Canter, 81, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born June 15, 1945, in Lebanon, Tennessee, to the late George and Grace (Kirby) Canter.

Jimmy had a lifelong passion for cars that extended from his hobbies to his career. He worked for Chrysler as a stocker for many years until his retirement. After he retired, he went on to start his own business detailing cars. In his free time, he also had a love for racing and motorcycles, especially riding his Harley Davidson, which began when he was only twenty years old. Jimmy was a member of the Indiana Freemasons, Sugar Creek Lodge No. 279, in Fairland, Indiana. He was a faithful man and had attended church, even becoming baptized.

Jimmy is survived by his son, Brian Canter; five grandchildren, Nathaniel (Courtney) Canter, Kristopher (Tiffany) Canter, Johnathan Canter, Nicholas (Megan) Canter, and Wyatt Canter; seven great-grandchildren, Francesca, Landon, Reagan, Beckham, Bennix, Bailey, and Johnathan Jr.; the mother of his children, Betty Canter Carpenter; two step-children, Thomas Myers and Cayla Turner; several step-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife, Marty Canter; his son, Christopher Canter; two siblings, Billy and Jack Canter; as well as his aunts and uncles.
