J'Nene Frances Jessup

J’Nene Frances Jessup, 86, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Hancock Regional Hospital. J’Nene was born on January 14, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Alfred and Helen (Schaefer) Wellinghoff.

J’Nene graduated from Redondo Beach High School in California with the class of 1958. She married the love of her life, Larry Wayne Jessup, on June 18, 1960. Larry passed away November 30, 2024.

She loved to read, crochet, do crossword puzzles, and was an avid card player. For 60 years, she and Larry shared a special friendship and developed dinner club outings with Joe and Peggy Hager, Paul and Barb Neal, and Tom and Carole Stevens. J’Nene loved being around her family and especially enjoyed time well spent with her children and grandchildren. She was a talented artist and worked for DaJo Studio painting portraits for several years. She then went on to work at Hancock Memorial Hospital in the housekeeping department with an accomplished seventeen years of dedication, retiring in 1995. After her retirement, she worked for the Greenfield Central school system in food services. J’Nene was a member of the Jayshees and the Bunco Club. She also was a member of New Palestine Christian Church.

J’Nene is survived by her four children, Bernard (Jenny) Jessup, Lisa Sauer, Abby (Larry) Lincoln, and Mary (Rex) Griffin; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren with one on the way; her sister, Helen Madison; many nieces and nephews; as well as her special caregivers, Sabrina Meredith, Susan Robertson, and Gwen Strough.

J’Nene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry; her parents; her two sisters, Rebecca Oaldon and Mary Patterson; as well as her son-in-law, Jeff Sauer.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with ministers Russ Jarvis and Daren Huber officiating. Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery.
