Joel E Schmidt

Joel E. Schmidt November 8, 1950 - February 9, 2011 Joel E. Schmidt, 60, a resident of Greenfield, passed away February 9, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born November 8, 1950 in Seattle, Washington to the late George and Erna (Baltzer) Schmidt. Joel graduated from Greenfield High School in 1969, received an Associates Degree from ITT, Indianapolis in 1972 and a B.S. from Purdue in 2006, both in electrical engineering. He was employed with INDOT of Greenfield as an electrical engineer for 45 years. Joel was a member of the Trinity Park United Methodist Church where he loved singing in the choir; he was an avid computer "Geek" and movie buff. Joel is survived by his wife Cindy D. (Sweet) Schmidt, whom he married in 1984; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Sally Sweet of Shelbyville; brother-in-law, Donald (Linda) Sweet of Manilla, IN; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jacquelyn A. Schmidt in 2009. Funeral service will be Monday, February 14, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Park United Methodist Church with Reverend Michael Manning officiating. Burial will follow at Bennett Cemetery in Shelby County. Friends may call at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield Sunday, February 13, 2011 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Monday at the church 1 hour prior to the service.
