John Verne Behrmann, age 93 of Greenfield, IN passed away at Traditions at Reagan Park on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. He was born on October 16, 1923 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Harry & Matilda (Bernhardt) Behrmann.
John attended Butler University, DePauw University, and the University of Michigan. He served active duty in the United States Navy during WWII. John also served in the Naval Reserves during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged at the Great Lakes Naval Station.
In 1948 he married the love of his life Margaret Ruth Pfaffman Rehwinkel who passed away on September 26, 2015. To this union, four children survive, son, John (Carrie) Behrmann of Indianapolis; daughters, Susan (Ronald) Deal of Avon, IN; Marilee (John) Klosterman of Guilford; Cheryl Sparks of Rochelle, IL; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
John was an Accountant at the Riviera Club of Indianapolis for many years and retired as an Accountant from the State of Indiana. John was an avid hiker, having hiked up the Appalachian Trail. He was a member of the Indianapolis Hiking Club where he served as President in 1978.
Funeral Services for John will be at 11:00am on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Greenfield, 200 W McKenzie Rd, Greenfield, IN 46140. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00am at the church. Burial will immediately follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield where John will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife of 67 years. Military Rites will be presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.

John was truly blessed to have received the compassionate Godly loving care from his caregiver Lisa during his final days and hours. The family is also grateful to Seasons Hospice and to the staff at Traditions at Reagan Park where John was a resident since November of 2015.
