John Arthur Mcdaniel

John A. McDaniel, 92 years, a lifetime resident of Greenfield passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025 at his residence. He was born May 5, 1933 in Greenfield, Indiana to the late John D. and Mary Lou (Walls) McDaniel.

John retired from Navistar and was former President and Recording Secretary for UAW Local 98, he led his fellow workers through a difficult strike. He later worked for the Indianapolis Auto Auction. He enjoyed traveling with his wife to Blue Grass Festivals where they enjoyed staying in their camper. John loved the outdoors, fishing, gardening, working in his yard and was skilled carpenter.

He is survived by his daughters, Belinda Scalf, Rosanna (Kevin) Kreider, Becky McDaniel, Rhonda McDaniel, sister, Nancy (James) Gillard, 5 grandsons, Stephen McDaniel, Brandon McDaniel, Lonny Robinson, Benjamin Scalf, and Colin Kreider.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, wife, Pauline (Best) McDaniel in 2019, son, John L. McDaniel, brothers, DeWayne McDaniel, Richard Browning, sister, Carole Davis.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Friday, August 22, 2025 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 W. Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46160. A funeral service will follow 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be a Park Cemetery, Green field.
