John Francis Schroth, Sr.

Sergeant First Class (Retired) John Francis Schroth, Senior died peacefully on June 25, 2023. He was 87 years old, one of 9 children, from North Revere, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Ginette Cecile Marta Bariteau, whom he met and married in 1956 while serving in the Army in France. Dad served 25 years as an Army Engineer, 13 of which were overseas, including two combat tours in Vietnam. He was a construction supervisor, platoon sergeant, First Sergeant, Green Beret, baseball coach, scoutmaster for many years, and sang Handel's Messiah six times with chapel choirs. He was a rabid fan of the Boston Red Socks, New England Patriots, and the "Boston (Atlanta) Braves." The week before he died he spent helping to plaster his son's new home in New Palestine. He had a hearty laugh, was mischievous, stubborn, and generous. We are so happy that he can again be with the many loved ones who passed before him. We miss you pops!
