Joseph Robert Hofmeister Jr., 93, passed away at home April 16, 2026. Joe was born January 19, 1933, in Indianapolis to Edna L. (Miller) and Joseph R. Hofmeister Sr. He was one of eight siblings, all of whom preceded him in death. Laura Marie, Delores, Anna Marie, Frank, Martha, Thomas, and Henry (Paul). Joe was also proceeded in death by Ruby, his wife of 61 years. He is survived by their children; Joyce Jasper, Joseph R. III, John (Rita), Joan Webber, and Jeff. Joe was lucky enough to find love again later in life. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Martha (Joni) and his stepchildren; Karen Woodall (Eric), Sharen Beattie (Michael), JoAnna Selig (David). Joe had 10 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and numerous great and even great-great grandkids.
Joe served in the US Navy and retired from civil service at Naval Avionics. Throughout his life Joe was an athlete, participating in Indy Runners, softball, and Senior Olympics. He was also an adventurer, a devout Catholic, and earned the nickname “Indiana Joe” among karaoke friends and his family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 11636 E. Washington St Indianapolis, In 46229. Funeral services will be held the following day, Saturday April 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Simon the Apostle Church 8155 Oaklandon, IN 46236.
