Joyce Melanie (Kern) Hall

Joyce Melanie Kern-Hall, 82, Indianapolis, passed away June 30, 2023. She was born on November 10, 1940, in Long Island, NY, to Paul L. and Virginia E. (Quisenberry) Kern. She attended Harry E. Woods High School in Indianapolis.

In Joyce's younger years she worked at a local movie theatre. She later worked at Shares, Inc., for 10 years, before retiring in 2006. She attended Faith Apostolic Church in Greenfield as well as Calvary Tabernacle Church in Indianapolis for many years. Joyce was a simple woman. She prioritized her life around family, grandchildren, and church. She loved to sing, play boardgames such as CandyLand and Sorry, and watch TV. She often traveled to Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina.

Joyce is survived by her children: Billy Hidalgo, Bobby Hidalgo Kern, Melanie Rose, and Randy Wandell; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; siblings: Janice Marsh, Barbara (Don) Rich, Kathy Still, and Paul Kern; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul L. Kern; mother, Virginia Noble; husband, Gary Hall; and sister, I. Suzann Fischman.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home – Cumberland Chapel, 11636 East Washington Street, Indianapolis. The funeral will be held the following day, Friday, July 14, 2023, also at the funeral home, at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Concordia Cemetery, Indianapolis.
