June A. Walker of Greenfield passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Crowne Point Assisted Living, Greenfield. June was born in Hancock County to the Late Lester and Janice (Webb) Jacobs. June was proud to be the first woman police officer hired by the Alexandria, Louisiana police department. Prior to her retirement she was head of the Traffic Violations Bureau for ALPD. Active in both her Hancock County and Louisiana communities June was Past Royal Matron of the Order of the Amaranth, a member of the Electra Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and past president of the Alexandria Post Office Auxiliary. She was a member of the Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church, the Circle of Friends Red Hat Society serving as Queen Mother, Hancock County Mental Health Association Board of Directors, the Coalition for Citizens Rights and the Hancock County Historical Society. June was an artist and enjoyed sharing her talents with students. Active in City and County politics you could always count on June to attend most all City Council meetings and never missed an evening at the Courthouse Annex to what the returns come in. Mrs. Walker is survived by her sons; Charlie Cecil of Indianapolis, Tim (Ellen) Cecil and Ted Cecil both of Greenfield, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband Wallace Walker in 2000, brother Tom Jacobs, sister; Peggy Kneip and grandsons Mark Cecil and Brian Cecil. Friends may call 2-6 pm, Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main St, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. Funeral 10 am, Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Brackney officiating. Burial Immediately following at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
