Katie O'Brien

Katie O'Brien April 24, 1926 - May 5, 2014 Katie "Mary Catherine" OBrien passed away Monday, May 5, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. Katie was born on April 24, 1926 to the late James and Elizabeth (Groff) McIntyre. She married Walter E. OBrien on August 7, 1949. Katie had her Masters in education from Ball State, and she was an elementary school teacher in the Greenfield school system for 28 years before retiring in 1995. Katie was an avid golfer and bridge player, as well as a member of Tri-Kappa Sorority. Katie is survived by her daughters, Suzie (Robert C.) Beeson of Indianapolis, Julie OBrien (David Stahl) of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Keely Beeson Wathen (Scott Sloo) of Fishers, Oliver (Polly Weitzman) Beeson of Fishers, Rachel OBrien Hunter of Chicago, IL, Molly (Andrew) Beeson Sharp of Indy; great-grandchildren, Rory Beeson and Max Sharp. Katie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, and brother, James McIntyre. Visitation for Katie will be Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 W Main St, Greenfield, IN 46140. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Park Cemetery, Greenfield, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice in her honor.
