Lee Alan Hardy

Lee Alan Hardy, 80, Greenfield, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at his home with loving family by his side. Lee was born on May 26, 1944, in South Bend, IN, to Edward A. and Juanita A. (Brown) Hardy. Lee married the love of his life, Janette Chilgren, on June 7, 1968.


Lee was part of the #692 Radar Squadron in Baudette, MN, while serving in the U.S. Air Force from April 26, 1965 to October 25, 1968. As being a newlywed and honorably discharged from the services, he and Janette would later welcome two sons to their young family. Lee worked as a National Membership Director for the American Legion in Indianapolis before retiring. Two weeks post-retirement, he joined forces with Tractor Supply as their assistant store manager, opening the Greenfield branch and remaining there for about 10 years. In Lee's free time, he enjoyed golfing, reading, fishing, traveling to places such as AZ, FL, and MN, and playing Sudoku. He recently attended West Street United Methodist Church in Shelbyville. He was a member of the New Palestine Masonic Lodge #404 for many years, most recently being named Chaplin.


Lee is survived by his loving sons, Jeff (Bethany) Hardy and Aaron (Jessica) Hardy; 13 grandchildren: James Hardy, Tyler Hardy, Justin Hardy, Edward Hardy, Evelyn Hardy, Jonathan Weaver, Lyric Plew, Liam Hardy, Rowan Hardy, Isiah Halicki, Julian Halicki, Graceanne Clouser, and Katie Halicki; great-grandson, Wesley Halicki; brother, Neil (Marie) Hardy; sister-in-law, Sherry Foster-Hardy; and many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janette Hardy of 48 years; and brother, Gene Hardy.


Visitation will be on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at West Street United Methodist Church, 629 South West Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176, with the service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Brackney officiating. Lee will be laid to rest next to his wife on July 3, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial ceremony at Pine Hill Cemetery, Williams, MN.   If you would like to sign the online guest book or send condolences to the family, you may do so by visiting www.stillingerfamily.com
