LeRoy R. Sweezy July 20, 1918 - March 26, 2010 LeRoy R. Sweezy, 91, a lifelong resident of Greenfield, passed away Friday, March 26, 2010 at his home. He was born July 20, 1918 in McCordsville, Indiana and was the son of the late Orin D. and Casandra (Crane) Sweezy. LeRoy was a member of the Americal, serving in the U.S Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force during WWII, served in the Battle of the Guadal Canal and worked for P.R. Mallory for 35 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Greenfield American Legion Post 119, loved to fish and spend time with his grandchildren. He is survived by a son, Richard (Trina) Sweezy of Greenfield, daughter, Kay Sweezy- Tanner of Greenfield; brother, Charles Sweezy of Rushville; sisters, Mary Manship of Elwood and Irene Shireman of Greenfield; granddaughters, Tabitha and Heather Sweezy; great grandson, Logan Joyce. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. Sweezy, January 11, 2006; brother, Albert O. Sweezy; sisters, Merle Sweezy, Edna Sexton and Ethel Wade; grandson, Stephen E. Dora. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield with Pastor Matt Wickham officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield with full military rites provided by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call Wednesday, March 31, 2010 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Hancock Regional Hospital Hospice, 1560 B. North State Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.
