Lois Mae Steele

Lois Mae Steele, age 96 of McCordsville, Indiana passed away October 26, 2022, at Westminster Village North. She was born November 24, 1925, in Elwood, Indiana to the late Marshall L. and Mabel M. (Booth) Tyler.

Lois was a 1944 graduate of New Palestine High School and a 1949 graduate of St. Vincent's Nursing School. She married Richard Steele on October 1, 1948. Together they established their home and raised their family in Hancock County. Prior to her retirement, Lois was a Registered Nurse from 1963 until 1978 at Hancock Memorial Hospital. She was an 80-year member of Amity United Methodist Church. She was devoted to her church and was actively involved as a member and a bible study leader. She was a founding member of the Busy Bee Homemakers and enjoyed crocheting blankets for cancer patients.

She is survived by her children, Rosalie Steele, Edith (Glenn) Van Arsdall, and Philip (Elaine) Steele; grandchildren, Jarrod Beeson, Craig Rigney, Michele Welch, and Christine Kwon; and five great grandchildren.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, mentioned above; husband, Richard; and siblings, Anna Lee Abel, Kenneth Tyler, Mildred Rush and Lowell Brune.

Funeral service for Lois with a Nursing Salute will be held at 12:00 pm Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial immediately following at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
