Marie C. (Borgmann) Ayers

Marie C. (Borgmann) Ayers, 84, of New Palestine, Indiana, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on February 3, 2025. She was born on January 21, 1941, to Louis and Florena (Borgmann) Rodebeck.

Marie was the wife of John "Jack" B. Ayers for 65 years. Together, they built a beautiful life full of memories. She was mother to her daughters, Tammy (John) Short and Tina (Stan) Hancock, and cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren, Grant (Violet) Short, Derick (Rene) Hancock, and Brittany (Steven) Kottlowski, brought her immense joy, and her great-grandchildren, Harlow, Sophia, Isaac, Emery, Spencer, Atlas, and Clinton, held a special place in her heart.

Marie was the eldest of a set of triplets, born alongside her sisters Marilyn Polly and Mildred Harter. The three sisters were the first triplets ever born in Hancock County, and their bond was something truly special. Marie is also survived by her brother, Floyd Borgmann.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Kenneth Borgmann.

In her professional life, Marie worked as an optometric assistant, where she was known for her kindness and attention to detail. Outside of work, Marie enjoyed spending time with her family and pursuing her hobbies, which included boating, fishing, sewing, beach trips, and shopping.

A celebration of Marie's life will be held at Stillinger Family Funeral Home- Cumberland Chapel, 11636 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN, on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Marty Waite officiating. Marie's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
