Marilyn Hall Falls, 91 of Indianapolis, Indiana, died peacefully Wednesday morning, April 29, 2015 at Westminster Village North in Indianapolis. Marilyn was born November 20, 1923 in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The daughter of the late Thomas B. and Grace (Faddis) Hall.
Her mother died when she was very young, and though this loss was a sadness she carried through her life, it may have contributed to the strong, loving bonds between Marilyn, her father, Tom, her sisters, Jean and Marcia, and her aunts, Margene and Helen, ties that strengthened each and their families through the years. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School and studied for two years at Hillsdale College in Michigan.
Marilyn wed Robert Mavis Falls on September 17, 1944 in Scarsdale, New York; they were married 53 years. Together they provided a very nurturing home for their two sons, Doug and David, and had an important positive impact on the lives of two exchange student sons, Carlo and Remzi, whom they hosted in their home, each for a year.
Marilyn was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother and a talented cook and homemaker. She actively corresponded with many, many relatives and friends, and through this correspondence brought joy, comfort, and connectedness to family and friends. She also frequently wrote to her governmental representatives on issue of concern to her. She enjoyed walking, observing wildlife, reading, listening to music, working crossword puzzles, and playing Scrabble. Marilyn was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and PEO, an international philanthropic organization. She had participated actively in St. Johns Presbyterian Church, Devon, Pennsylvania, and previously in First Presbyterian Church, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, where for a number of years she was the church caller welcoming newcomers to the area.
Marilyn will be missed and remembered by: sons Douglas Lee Falls of Atlanta, Georgia and David Alan Falls of Indianapolis, Indiana; Davids wife, Sabrina; grandchildren Michael, Emily Larkin, and Zachary; Michaels wife, Emily Caitland; Emily Larkins fianc, Matthew; eight nieces and nephews. She will be missed and remembered also by many beloved friends from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Strafford, Pennsylvania, and other stops in her life journey.
