Martha Ann (Crudgington) Hian

Martha Ann (Crudgington) Hian, 80, passed away with family by her side, on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Abbie Hunt Bryce Home, in Indianapolis, while under hospice care. Martha was born on September 4, 1943, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Homer and Beatrice (McPhearson) Crudgington. She attended Little Rock High School.

Martha enjoyed all things New Palestine. She knew the ins and the outs of the town, as well as all her neighbors. She knew no stranger. She was generous. She worked in the New Palestine school system for many years either driving a school bus or working in the cafeteria. When not working, Martha enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and being a caretaker to all. She even took care of the neighbor dog, whom she now claims as her own. She often listened to Neal Diamond and Elton John and was a frequent visitor of Sero's in Cumberland. Martha was a tremendously loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.

She is survived by her sons, Russell A. Hian and Randy J. Hian (Sharon Douglass); loving grandchildren, Anastasia Dougherty, Miguel (Miciah) Alejos, and Sonya Napariu; 2 awesome great-grandchildren, Nathan and Elise Dougherty; and beloved dog, Olaf.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Hian, Sr.; son, Ronald Hian, Jr.; and brothers, Allen and Jack.

Stillinger Family Funeral Home, New Palestine, has been of assistance to the family. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m., at the Lions Club, 5242 W, West U.S. Highway 52, New Palestine.
