Marvin E. Payne April 27, 1929 - September 8, 2010
Marvin E. Payne, 81, a resident of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, September 08, 2010 at the Golden Living Center Brandywine.
He was born April 27, 1929 in Shelbyville, Indiana and was the son of the late Earl and Fern (Gray) Payne.
Marvin was a graduate of Shelbyville high school, served as a combat engineer in the U.S. Army, was a member and Past Master of the Hancock F&AM Lodge 101, Murat Shrine where he was involved in transporting children to the Shrine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, Scottish and York Rite. He was a member of the Greenfield American Legion and Faith United Methodist Church.
He is survived by sons, Rodney Douglas "Doug" (Lori) Payne of Shelbyville, Daniel Neill "Dan" (Sarah) Payne of Greenfield; daughter, Jean Ann (Joe) Stieneker of Shelbyville; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Ruth Ann Phelps of Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Eileen Wiggins, and Laura McQueen; daughter, Pamela Jeannene Payne; brothers, Harold, Maynard and Meredith Payne; sisters, Lois Nell Stohry, Phyllis Ann Merritt.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield with Gary Dolph officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. with Masonic services at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
