Mary E. Bateman December 8, 1924 - January 4, 2013 Mary E. (Gilley) Bateman, 88, of Greenfield, passed away January 4, 2013 in Brandywine Nursing Home in Greenfield. She was born on December 8, 1924, the daughter of the late James Gilley. Mary was a graduate of Washington, Indiana High School and retired in 1989 as a secretary for the Armour Star Company, she was a member of the central Christian Church. Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years, George C. Bateman of Greenfield, daughter, Jane Herbst of Greenfield, two grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Bateman, brothers, Carl and Lional Gilley, sister, Martha Joyce. No services are schedule at this time Comments Mary and George were our neighbors here in Washington for several years. They were wonderful neighbors, keeping an eye on our house when we were out of town. " We certainly missed them both when they moved away. We were so sorry to hear of Mary's passing.
