Mary Ann Burton

Mary Ann Burton, 81, of Greenfield, passed away on September 19, 2020 at Springhurst Health Campus. She was born on February 4, 1939 in Indianapolis to the late Charles S. and Lila E. (Sherwood) Hoagland. Mary Ann graduated from Scecina Memorial High School. Mary Ann married the love of her life, Harold E. Burton, on January 25, 1958. Mary Ann worked as a key punch operator at Link Belt for many years. She then worked for 15 ½ years as a school bus driver for Eastern Hancock Schools, retiring in 1987. She was a 43+ year member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She enjoyed fellowship with the Red Hat Dollies. She also enjoyed family vacations and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her family and friends will remember her for her infectious laugh. Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband, Harold Burton, of 62 years; loving children: Debbie S. Matthews of Plainfield, Jim J. Burton of Alcoa, TN, John R. Burton of Greenfield, Joy M. (Gary) Blagburn of Fishers, and Steve C. (Kristin) Burton of Anderson; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 expected great-grandchild; sister, Carolyn S. Hoagland of Indianapolis; brother, Richard J. Hoagland of Indianapolis; and step-sister, Kathy Wagner of West Lafayette. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Burl Darnell; and brother Robert "Bob" Hoagland. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd, Greenfield, IN 46140, on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Indianapolis.
