Mary E. (Cook) Mahin

October 2, 1922 — October 24, 2021

Mary Lib Mahin, 99, of Greenfield passed away peacefully on October 24, 2021. She was born on October 2, 1922 in Franklin, Indiana to Leroy and Ida Cook. On June 5, 1944 she married Louie Mahin and they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage before his death on July 30, 2005. Mary Lib attended Franklin College and received her B.S. in Education from Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana 1944, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was an English teacher at Clovis, New Mexico, Raleigh, Fortville/Vernon Township and Greenfield schools. After 30+ years of teaching, she retired in 1984 from Greenfield Junior High School where she had taught for 20 years. She was a member of the Greenfield Christian Church and Psi Iota Xi Sorority. As an I.U. alum, she loved watching I.U. basketball and in her later years she enjoyed her Mandela Coloring Books. Survivors are her daughters, Terrie Mahin and Sudi (Larry) Knox, and grandson, Cody Knox, all of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Cook. Her family would like to thank the medical and support staffs of Springhurst and Heart to Heart Hospice for their wonderful, loving care. There will be no visitation. Her immediate family will have private graveside services at Park Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Greenfield.
