Mary Elizabeth "Bef" (Hoagland) Best

Mary Elizabeth "Bef" Best, 64, Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022. She was born on April 29, 1958, in Beech Grove, IN, to Robert Morris and Jo Ann (Jennett) Hoagland. She is a 1976 graduate of Scecina High School, Indianapolis. Mary attended Little Flower Catholic Church from a young age. She then transitioned to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mary worked at IU Medical Center as a secretary in the Oncology Department where she molded her loving and caring traits that she would carry throughout her life. Following IU, Mary worked for 25 years as an administrative assistant with Thomas & Skinner, Inc., Indianapolis. Mary was very funny, sarcastic, embarrassing in public, an excellent cook, quick to make friends, a left hander, and an avid TV watcher. In Mary's later years, she attended St. Michael Catholic Church, Greenfield. Mary is survived by her mother, Jo Ann Hoagland; children, Sara Flores and Jennifer O'Connor; grandchildren: Adalyn Flores, Dominic Flores, Daniel O'Connor, Timothy O'Connor, and Joseph "JoJo" O'Connor; siblings: Kathleen (Roger) Wilson, Joseph Hoagland, and Michael Hoagland; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hoagland. Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Greenfield, has been honored to assist Mary and her family during their loss.
