Mary Katherine "Mary Kay" Kussmann

Mary Katherine (Mary Kay) Kussmann, 103, died September 18, 2020 at Suburban Hospice at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. She was born August 14, 1917, in Morris, Oklahoma, to Max C. and Emma Jane (Zimmerman) Deweese. She attended high school and business school in St. Paul, Minnesota, and worked for a law publisher, both in St. Paul and in Kansas City, Missouri. She also worked as a bookkeeper after her children were raised. She married Everett Kussmann June 30, 1940. They were married for sixty-three years. In 2006 she moved to Greenfield to be near her daughter. Mary Kay was an active church member wherever she lived, holding the positions of Sunday School teacher, deaconess, treasurer, women's fellowship president, and elder. She was a constant presence at Greenfield Christian Church, her final church home. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (David) Livingston, Mary Sue Kussmann of Irving, Texas, and son, Herb (Barbara) Kussmann of Olathe, Kansas, her brother, Max Deweese, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a grandson, Bart Livingston. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Women's Fellowship of Greenfield Christian Church.
