Matt Carey Wise

Matt Carey Wise, 67, a resident of Selma, IN, passed away at his residence on Friday, June 20,

2025. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on May 13, 1958, to William and Elsie Wise.

Born and raised in Indiana, Matt carried a lifelong love for the traditions of his home state. He

was an avid hunter who found peace in nature and took great joy in Indiana sports. He loved to cheer on the Pacers, the Colts and never missed the excitement of the Indy 500 or Formula 1.

It was in the kitchen where Matt truly came alive. A gifted chef, with a desire to bring people

together with his food, Matt worked in many kitchens throughout his career.  Matt retired as a

chef from The Garrison at Ft. Benjamin Harris State Park. He was most proud of his time as

Chef at ChanteClair. Through his cooking, he served many affluent people during this time and

his dishes are a reflection of the dedication to his craft.

Matt is survived by his only daughter: Remi Wise; 5 siblings: Patricia "Patty" Fisher, Teresa

"T.C." Kelley, Dawn "DeDe" Lewellen, Adam Wise and Chrissy Cox

He was preceded in death by his parents and sibling: Doug "Buck" Polley.

Matt's memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 15th, 2025 from 1 to 3 pm at Eden Methodist Church, 2122 East Eden Road, Greenfield, IN 46140.
