Michael John Smith

Michael J. Smith, 75, Greenfield, passed away on December 21, 2020 after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Mike was born in Akron, OH on August 24, 1945 and graduated from Manchester High School in 1963. He worked in the automotive industry for more than 30 years and retired from Smith Implements in 2015. Mike was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He was also a member of the Righteous Oaks Baptist Church and a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Susan; cherished daughter, Jeffri (Ashley) Witzberger and son, Brett (Maren) Witzberger; treasured grandchildren: Henry, Adeline and Paige; devoted brothers: Jim (Nell), Don (Kathy), and Dick (Cheryl); brothers-in-law: Ray (Claudia) Todd and Don (Susan) Todd; sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Causey and Peri Todd; and many nieces, nephews, friends; and his faithful dog, Sulle. Mike was preceded in death by his father, James Howard Smith; mother, Betty Kime; brother, Bob Smith; and previous wife, Janet. Due to Covid 19, the family will have a private ceremony at Righteous Oaks Baptist Church which will be available on Facebook Live, Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greenfield Hancock Animal Management where Mike volunteered.
