Michael Gray Stinson

Michael Gray Stinson, 50, Indianapolis, formerly residing in Muncie, passed away on April 11, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital with his loving mother by his side. Michael was born on November 9, 1974, in Indianapolis, IN, to Janice Lynn Boyd.

Michael loved life, was blessed with a sweet soul, and had the smile only a mother could give him. For 23 years, Michael lived in the Muncie area where he participated in the Special Olympics. He was the 1998 Track & Field star claiming the 50-meter run medal. He also participated in bowling and wrestling. He had an equestrian horse named Buck. He loved to gather with family for their birthday celebrations, holidays, and gatherings in general. His hobbies included watching the Colts and Pacers play on TV; watching wrestling; listening to his favorite band, Metallica; watching his favorite actor/wrestler, The Rock; watching his favorite athlete, Michael Jordan (but also admiring that they both shared the same first names and that they were both tall); and holding an interest with trucks and cars. Spending time with family was precious, and Michael loved seeing his young nephews, Oliver Phillips Portillo, Aiden Phillips Portillo, and Cameron Spears grow. Michael's biggest supporter was his mother, Lynn. She was his caretaker for all 50 years. She would often travel back and forth to Muncie to visit him, root on his participation in the Olympics, and monitor his overall progress. After his move from Muncie to Indianapolis, she continued with the routine. Michael attended Rise Learning Facility.

Michael is survived by his loving mother, Lynn Edris; 5 cousins; 3 nephews; 2 nieces; aunts, Lorna Phillips and Lucy McGrath; and uncle, Joe (Liz) Boyd.

Michael will be joining his stepfather, Gary Edris, in heaven.
