Mina Hubert February 16, 1935 - December 3, 2007 Mina Hubert, 72, died unexpectedly on December 3 at her home in Greenfield. Mina was born, raised and educated in Missouri, but spent her entire adult and married life in Indiana as a loving and faithful partner to her pastor/husband Fred. They shared a common commitment to serving people which began in St. Louis as Mina was graduating from the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital school of Nursing as an RN and husband-to-be Fred was completing his preparation for ordination into the ministry of the Lutheran church at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Married in 1957, their life together in Indiana began in 1958 and took them to congregations in Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, back to Fort Wayne, then to Alexandria and finally to rural Seymour. During these years she was a loving and faithful mother to their two sons, Jonathan F. and Michael J., and daughter Janice K. Abplanalp. She delighted in becoming a grandmother to five grandsons and one granddaughter. After her children were grown she returned to nursing part-time at St. Johns Hospital, Anderson and The Willows nursing home in Alexandria. In 1997 Mina joined her husband in retirement from St. Pauls, Seymour and relocated to Greenfield, IN. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this past summer. Mina found great joy and satisfaction in music and in volunteer ministry. She became a devoted member of St. James Lutheran church and its choir. She served as a parish representative to Wernle Childrens Home, Richmond, a volunteer staffer in the local Lutheran Disabilities Ministrys Friendship Group, a co-leader of the Daylighters ChristCare group at St. James and as a tutor in the Greenfield adult learning center. For several years she also became "the story lady" at Regency Nursing home with weekly visits to share stories and song with the residents. Mina was instrumental in helping form the first Fibromyalgia Support Group at Hancock Memorial Hospital and served as its leader for more than three years. Mina is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren. Grandson Myles Nicholas Hubert, who died last year at age 5, led the "Welcome home!" in our Fathers house. She also leaves behind three sisters, Geri Campbell, Peggy Harris, June Sokolic. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. James Lutheran Church with Pastor Joyce Gerwing officiating. Friends may call Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Disabilities Ministry, 4038 South Ridgeview Rd., Anderson, IN 46013 and/or Wernle Childrens Home, 2300 Wernle Rd., Richmond, IN 47374.
