Monte Brent Gruell

Monte Brent Gruell, 63, Greenfield, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 29, 2021. He was born on June 12, 1957 in Greenfield to Robert T. and Marcella J. (Purcell) Gruell. Monte is a 1976 graduate of Greenfield Central High School. He married his love Tina Marie Potts on September 24, 1983. After high school Monte took an apprenticeship to become a meatcutter. He was employed with Kroger's for many years before retiring in 2014. He retired a second time in 2017 from Tyner Pond Farm. Monte and Tina traveled extensively from the Bahamas, Alaska, Hawaii, Florida, and everywhere in between. The children and grandchildren even accompanied them both on some vacations. Monte loved to fish and hunt as well as spend time with his grandchildren. Monte is survived by his loving wife Tina of 37 years; their children: Heather Lorenz and Dawn Gruell (Ben Adcock); grandchildren: Cinnamon Smith, Meadow Smith, River Gruell, and Trenton Gruell; and brothers: Robert 'Stan' (LeeAnn) Gruell, Greg Gruell, and Brad (Barbara) Gruell and many nieces and newphews. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, with the funeral service immediately starting at 12:00 noon. Burial will take place in Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monte and Tina Gruell Community Fund, c/o Hancock Community Foundation, 312 E. Main Street, Greenfield.
