Nancy A. Smoot

Nancy A. Smoot, 91, of Greenfield, Indiana, passed away Monday, November 9, 2020. She was born March 12, 1929 to Bethel M. Hartzell and Robert E. Taylor. She married Robert H. Smoot on August 6, 1949. Nancy was a deaconess at the Greenfield Christian Church and was involved in the Women's Circle at the church. She was also actively involved with Meals on Wheels for many years. She was an avid bowler and liked to paint and swim. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family. Nancy is survived by her husband of 71 years, Robert; children, Mark (Jerri) Smoot, William (Beverly) Smoot, Duane (Cheryl) Smoot, Beth (Joe) Turpin and James (Denise) Smoot; 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Lila (Dave) Young; two grandchildren, Andrew Turpin and Nick Smoot; siblings, Lila, Pat, Robert, Lynn "Taddy", William "Duke", Frank and Everett. Services will be held Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 11:00 am at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N East St, Greenfield, where a Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Pastor Frank Everett will be officiating. Interment in Washington Park East Cemetery, 10612 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN, immediately following the service. All in attendance will be required to wear a mask and social distancing will be practiced.
