Nile Matlock February 7, 1912 - August 6, 2010 Nile Matlock, 98, a resident of Greenfield, passed away Friday, August 6, 2010 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born February 7, 1912 in Hancock County and was the son of the late Charles H. and Katie (Jones) Matlock. He worked as a salesman at Stadium Distributions and also as Captain of the State Excise Police retiring in 1980. He is the oldest living member of the Shiloh Christian Church where he was very active and was a Sunday school teacher, deacon and past elder. He loved to plant trees and garden. He was past chairman of the Hancock County Democratic Party. He is survived by three sons, Fred Matlock of Greenfield; Dick (Carolyn) Matlock of Morristown; David (Connie) Matlock of Greenfield; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Loren Matlock of Greenfield; Charles (Corrine) Matlock of Greenfield; and two sisters, Ina Francis Wallace of Greenfield and Janet Dobbins of Greenfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee (Jeffries) Matlock in 1999; three grandchildren Timothy, Stephanie, and Kit Matlock; sisters, Helen Lucas and Adonis Smith; brother, George Matlock. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield with Pastor Fred Girdwood officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010.
