Nina I. Brown January 29, 1925 - October 1, 2008
Nina I. Brown, 83 of Greenfield passed away Wednesday, October 1st at Brandywine Nursing and Rehab. She was born January 29, 1925 in Indianapolis to the late Dewey A. and Mary ( Boughster) Hassler.
Nina was a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in education. She spent her career as an elementary teacher in LaPorte, Indiana retiring in 1980. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in LaPorte and Bradley United Methodist Church in Greenfield. Nina also spent a year in Africa on a medical mission which she considered to be her "great achievement".
She is survived by sons; Marc Brown of Benicia, CA, Dewey Brown of Brownsburg, IN and Brian (Bonnie) Brown of Greenfield, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Bernard in 1989.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m.Friday, October 3rd at Pine Lake Cemetery in LaPorte, IN. Friends may call Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home ~ Pasco Chapel, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140.

Comments I loved Mrs. Brown! She was my third grade teacher at Kingsbury and I have always looked back at that wonderful year I spent with her with fond memories. So sorry to hear the distressing news about your mother. I have only positive memories from our earlier LaPorte days throughout high school. " Difficult to re-connect under these circumstances. Let's make it a point to communicate soon!

Your smile and the direct way you always asked questions...you had a way of making others feel they were cared about. If only I could of stayed in your presence " much much longer but I will cherish the short years I spent with you.
