Norma (Bussell) Rogers, 94, was born in Greenfield, Indiana, on April 28, 1931, to Charles and Edna Bussell. She passed away peacefully at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. She and Robert Rogers were married on December 31, 1950, and were joyfully married for 67 years. Norma was a 1949 graduate of Greenfield High School and had a long career in the banking industry. She worked at Greenfield Banking Company in the 60's, then with Greenfield Building & Loan before merging with Henry County Savings & Loan and eventually Ameriana Savings Bank. She retired as Teller Supervisor at Ameriana in 1996. Norma enjoyed her many adventures with her friends and family through the years. Her family was her life. She could always be found supporting her children and grandchildren at school activities and sporting events. Norma was a lifelong member of Bradley United Methodist Church, and in her retirement, she enjoyed being active in the Ladies Book Club and the Hilltoppers. Norma was known for her hosting and enjoyment in entertaining family and friends in her home by having family dinners or playing card games and dominoes with friends. There was always good food and snacks included. Norma was an Honorary member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Upsilon Chapter, being initiated following high school graduation. She was still an active member of the Auxiliary/Retired Chapter and attended quarterly luncheon meetings. She was also a Charter member of the Greenwood chapter during her time there due to her husband's work relocation before returning to Greenfield. Norma was also a member of the Eastern Star. Norma enjoyed visits with her sister and family in Memphis and family vacations, especially out west to visit dear friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Edna Bussell, husband, Robert Rogers, brother, Ralph Bussell, and sister, Jean Apple. Surviving are her children; Jerry (Julie) Rogers and Janice (Rick) Johnston, grandchildren, Derek (Amanda) Rogers, Shelley Rogers, David (Alli) Johnston, Jennifer (Brenden) Gill, and great-granddaughters, Sophia, Sydney, and Neve. Also, surviving are her brother-in-law, Jack Rogers, and sister-in-law, Fredonna Sinkhorn, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 W. Main Street, Greenfield, on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., with a service following at noon with Rev. Cyndi Alte officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, also in Greenfield.
